This paper reflects on the potential role regions can play in the European political sphere in light of their incorporation into the draft European Constitution. The author notes that regions have been trying to modify Europe’s political architecture since the mid 1980s. The convention on the European Constitution has given the regional dimension additional and unexpected impetus.
