This report examines the relationship between revolutions, such as the Arab Spring, and terrorism. In order to assess the impact of the Arab Spring on terrorist activity, the author separates and discusses different types of terrorism as well as different meanings of al-Qaeda and compares them with two relevant categories of political violence and their security implications. The report concludes by highlighting implications for NATO.
