Since 2000, the perspective of integration into Euro-Atlantic institutions has become a central factor of influence in the Western Balkan Countries. By improving cooperation within the region, both the EU and NATO need to establish a clear enlargement strategy towards the Western Balkans. A clear perspective of the membership will additionally broaden and strengthen bonds between the Western Balkan countries and the EU and NATO.
