This report analyzes the 2011 contested elections in Uganda, in which the incumbent president, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, was re-elected for another five-year term. The report discusses the major concerns of the people of Uganda before, during and after the elections. It also compares the performance of opposition parties in earlier elections as well as this one. Finally, it explores the national and regional implications of Museveni’s victory and how his new term is likely to influence policy at the national and regional levels.
