This paper takes stock of recent elections in Africa and looks forward at a moment when elections are going to be held in the majority of continent's countries. It highlights the importance of political processes to ensure inclusiveness and the credibility of the electoral process, to assist political parties to overcome their disagreements, and to provide security to the contending parties. The paper argues that elections should be part of a broader political framework that promotes good governance, the rule of law and equal participation in politics.
