This paper addresses some of the key dimensions of the EU’s engagement with the Mediterranean region in light of the Arab Spring and its aftermath. Following a general assessment of the state of regimes in the region today, it addresses: 1) political relations; 2) a prospective Euro-Mediterranean economic area; 3) natural resources; 4) migration; 5) the role of the military in the region; 6) EU crisis management and the role of NATO; and finally, 7) the impact of the Arab Spring on the Arab-Israeli conflict.
