This edition examines the recent Russian Presidential election. The first article analyzes the process and results of the election and considers the implications for the Russian political system in the years ahead. The second article assesses the nature of the Putin regime and how it will approach the next six years in light of the changed political context, and what this may mean for Russia. The third article examines the practice of elections in Russia, and assesses how and where manipulation of the process occurs. In addition, the editions contains a full statistical analysis of the election, the preliminary statement by the electoral monitoring group GOLOS on the conduct of the election, and a range of opinion poll data relating to the election.
