This paper focuses on the political economy of cash transfers in Zambia. It is one of three commissioned studies on cost affordability and political economy of Cash Transfers - part of ODI's research study (2006–09) "Cash Transfers and their Role in Social Protection". The author advocates the allocation of greater resources to ensure nation-wide implementation of cash transfer schemes in the country.
