This report presents findings from a study looking at the opportunities that carbon offset projects offer poor rural communities. It explores the different approaches to establishing carbon offset projects in the forestry and bio energy sectors. It examines whether the carbon offset aspect of these projects introduce any new opportunities or risks for the poor. It discusses the implications of carbon finance for the long-term sustainability of any new opportunities which might emerge.
