This paper examines the Arab Peace Initiative and its future prospects. Created in the aftermath of both the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and the second intifada which had begun in late 2000, the Arab Peace Initiative of 2002 has moved front and center in Middle Eastern diplomacy. The author argues that it is likely that US President Barack Obama and the Quartet (the US, EU, UN and Russia) may take up the Arab Peace Initiative in some form. The paper concludes with recommendations for diplomacy.
