The first round of negotiations between the EU and Moldova on a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) will take place in February 2012. Its final shape and scope is hardly predictable and will depend on the solution of several important problems, such as the willingness of Moldovan authorities to incur the costs of economic integration with the EU, overcoming an internal political crisis and progress in resolving the Transdniestrian conflict. Quick progress in the negotiations could improve weakening pro-European sentiments of Moldovan society.
