This paper discusses Iran's nuclear situation and its prospects for progress ahead of the 2012 Weapons of Mass Destruction-Free-Zone (WMDFZ) in the Middle East. This conference would provide a window of opportunity to improve diplomatic relations in the region. The author contends that Iran could be seen as a rational actor seeking regional influence. The WMDFZ process is an opportunity to engage Iran and its neighbors in dialogue.
