In this paper, the author examines the issues addressed at the Nuclear Security Summit in Seoul in March 2012. Although it was dominated by controversies surrounding North Korea, the summit succeeded in mobilizing states to better coordinate their efforts to enhance the security of nuclear materials and to universalize protection standards. The author argues; however, the role of the summits as components of the international nuclear security regime is limited and that the third such meeting, planned for 2014, most probably will be the last.
