At a first glance the economic crisis in Europe, the Arab uprisings, protests in the west and the ongoing 'rise of the rest' seem separate events. The speaker at this Chatham house event argues that, on the contrary, globalization is the powerful unifying link between them. For the first time in human history, in his view, globalization is genuinely global, ushering in a new era of strategic competition at the geopolitical, geo-economic and geo-technological levels. He explores the profound effects this era of globalization will exert on international affairs during the coming decade.
