This paper discusses the so-called ‘Egyptian Revolution’ and examines how it has led to sweeping social and cultural changes. The author views these changes as being promoted by the country's middle-class urban youth. These social and cultural changes are the main asset for a transition towards a more democratic regime, despite the uncertainties regarding the political future. According to the author, the question now is whether the youth will be able to give rise to a political option that expresses its ideals, balancing the influence of the other two major political forces in the country: the military and the Muslim Brotherhood.
