This policy brief discusses how the EU can counter the threat posed by terrorist group Boko Haram to Nigeria’s stability and security in the region more generally. The author argues that to help counter Boko Haram, the EU must maintain its approach as a development ‘enabler’. Firm EU–Nigeria strategic engagement is also regarded as key to addressing Nigeria’s internal challenges and supporting implementation of the EU Sahel Strategy.
