This case study examines how REDD+ and adaptation policies are currently aligned in Nepal’s national policy, before assessing whether planning for REDD+, outlined in the Readiness Preparation Proposal, is likely to contribute to adaptive capacity at the local level. While adaptive capacity cannot be directly measured, the Local Adaptive Capacity framework developed by the African Climate Change Resilience Alliance is used to analyze not only the existence and availability of assets necessary for adapting to climate change but also the development of processes and functions needed for supporting the adaptive capacities of communities.
