This paper examines the situation of the rural migrant laborers in China. With China's rising economic power and the establishment of large manufacturing units, export houses and numerous industries, there has been an influx of migrant laborers from rural to urban areas. The author analyzes the outbreaks of violent demonstrations led by migrant workers and the challenges they can pose for the Communist Party of China.
