This text ponders why China and Saudi Arabia are trying to enhance their cooperation with each another. Basically, China wants to advance its economic, political, security and energy interests in the Middle East. Saudi Arabia, in turn, wants a stable and reliable partner to offset the instability in its region and to reduce its reliance on the US. Last, the text’s authors discuss the potential impact of improved Chinese-Saudi Arabian relations on Israel.
