This paper summarizes the most salient points of a research seminar entitled "Impact and challenges of the Arab crisis in North Africa and the Middle East, eighteen months after the start of the democratic transition". The author describes the paradigm shift in the region and examines the role Islamic movements play. He proceeds by focusing on each affected country in turn, from Libya to Turkey and examines the role of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
