Publication

Jun 2008

The first part of this publication deals with questions that evaluate the present state of human rights in general, while the second specifically examines access to medicines. The first four articles discuss the justiciability of economic, social, and cultural rights, the growing consolidation of sexual rights as autonomous rights, the participatory preparation and adoption of a new international treaty on rights of persons with disabilities, and the challenges that have to be overcome by non-governmental human rights organizations. The section on medicines discusses medicine as a human right, access to medicines for people in poverty, medical treatment for people living with HIV/AIDS, and intellectual property rights pertaining to medicine.
