This monograph contains the papers, addresses and reports presented in a seminar on security and defense in the Mediterranean held in Barcelona on in 2006. Considering that most of the challenges to security in the region affect the Mediterranean as a whole and not only its individual states, reflections form different perspectives are valuable. The contributions to this monograph present different positions and sensitivities in the face of the multidimensional challenges to security in the region.
