This document examines the timetable for transferring security responsibilities to the Afghan National Security Forces. It considers the current commitments of contributing nations and the plans for withdrawal. Over the course of 2010, plans were put in place to strengthen the capabilities of the Afghan National Security Forces, in order to transfer security responsibilities to the Afghan state and reduce coalition forces from mid-2011 onward.
