This paper provides a summary of several study projects conducted by NDC research staff members. It clusters around two broad topics. The first one is NATO's approach towards the global "South". The author discusses how NATO might use the Mediterranean Dialogue as a vehicle to promote security and stability in sub-Saharan Africa. The second topic concerns the transformation of NATO to meet asymmetric challenges. The paper outlines ways for NATO to adapt its decision-making processes to the asymmetric threats posed by transnational terrorists and other non-state actors.
