This report describes the political, economic, and social situation in Kenya in the years following the 2007 election violence. A power-sharing accord ended the crisis and established a government which remains in office but the country is dealing with the legacy of this crisis. Amidst the continuing domestic political turbulence, Kenya launched a military incursion into southern Somalia. Moreover, 3.75 million people are experiencing food insecurity across the rural areas of the country. Economic growth has been returning but the author fears these modest gains could be wiped out by a resurgence of political violence or by other endemic problems.
