This brief critically analyzes Spanish foreign policy in April and June, 2012. The author argues that the lack of a clear European strategy has compounded the perception that Spain is acting in a confused and uncoordinated manner. This perception has extended to other foreign policy arenas, where a reactive, crisis management approach also prevails. The author advocates the establishment of a strategic framework and coordination mechanisms in order to rectify these failings.
