This paper discusses the challenges to women’s participation in peacekeeping operations, global characteristics of the inclusion of women in peacekeeping operations, and the challenges of the related policy in Serbia. It outlines what obstacles to peacekeeping operations are present in Serbia, and what additional barriers women need to overcome. Based on interviews with the men and women participating in the missions and using secondary sources, the author presents the main challenges related to the participation of women in peacekeeping missions and provides a number of recommendations to improve the situation in this area.
