This analysis outlines the six priority areas of the Swedish EU presidency during the second half of 2009 and looks at its key challenges. The climate-change agreement to be finalized in Copenhagen in December 2009, the economic and financial crisis and freedom, security and justice are the Swedish presidency's top priorities. As argued, the presidency also gives priority to the EU's external dimension, covering issues ranging from enlargement to the WTO.
