This issue of the African Journal on Conflict Resolution (AJCR) discusses factors that drive conflict in Africa as well as mechanisms for the resolution of such conflicts. It explores the linkages between communal and state-based conflicts in Sudan, explores landownership conflicts in Cameroon and analyzes the causes of religious violence in Nigeria. The journal additionally reviews the challenges of UN preventive diplomacy mechanisms in Africa and considers the utility of soft power mediation.
