This paper discusses NATO’s partnership with Afghanistan after 2014. According to the author, NATO could still make a considerable contribution to Afghanistan’s long-term stabilization. The alliance will not be alone in providing training and security assistance on the ground post-2014, investing money in Afghan forces or maintaining a political dialogue with the government. The author argues that, in this wider context, it is important that NATO considers ways to sharpen its partnership policy and public messaging.
