This report outlines a strategy for the United States in 2005-2006 to achieve certain critical aims in the Western Balkan region. It outlines several policies intended to hasten the region's movement toward EU integration and facilitate the withdrawal of US troops from the area. The author calls on the US government to extricate the western Balkans from what is known as the "diplomatic underbrush" of neglected US interests, and urges the US to actively promote the agenda the report lays out for the international community.
