The authors of this article state that there are still considerable gaps in the development of concepts, policies, and practices that would make post-conflict peace-building more effective. They identify one such gap in the security dimension of post-conflict peace-building and propose to apply a security governance approach to the range of security issues that must be addressed by post-conflict societies and the international community. This approach includes not only security sector reform (SSR) and disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration (DDR), but also the rule of law and transitional justice.
