The note analyzes the controversial election results in Ivory Coast. A disputed election has brought the country to the verge of civil war, with an apparently defeated incumbent refusing accept the result and led to both candidates, Ouattara and Gbagbo, claiming victory and swearing themselves in. Thus, it has been argued that there is no consensus among the international community on the question. According to the author, much depends on whether Gbabgo can find sufficient resources to keep supporters bound to his cause.
