This note investigates the proposals for a EU Directive on consumer rights. After a legal background of the issue of consumer rights, the author continues analyzing the main aspects and purposes of the proposal for a Directive on this matter. Moreover, it has been argued that as the draft of Directive is subject to the co-decision procedure, the aim of the author is to clarify the role and powers of the European Parliament in the scrutiny process. Ultimately, tha author provides brief references to the reports of the House of Commons and House of Lords concerning the EU scrutiny activity. Commentaries are also available at the EurActiv and EU Observer websites.
