This note gives information on the UK Government’s review of the Prevent strategy, a collection of initiatives aimed at tackling religious extremism, which was inherited from the previous Government. It outlines the new strategy and includes information on the integration work led by the Department for Communities and Local Government. As part of the wider counter-terrorism strategy, the strand known as Prevent sought to deal with community cohesion and integration, with those individuals and groups promoting division and hatred, and with the factors that predispose individuals or groups to respond to terrorist ideologies.
