The authors of this commentary argue that, in the aftermath of the Arab Spring, the security situation in certain countries of Central and Sub-Saharan Africa, such as Mali, Somalia, Niger and Sudan has deteriorated and necessitates closer international attention. The EU, they contend, should contemplate whether the situation requires its military presence in the region.
