This paper traces the performance of Pakistan's economy since 2008. The author argues that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), elected in 2008, allowed the country’s economy to slip into a recession that lasted for five years-the longest in Pakistan's history. While some external factors such as natural disasters had a negative impact on the economy, bad management was the main reason for downturn.
