This paper examines the 2012 political crisis in Romania. It looks at the background of the crisis, how it played out, the repercussions on the economy and implications for external relations. The author argues that while Romania's Euro-Atlantic commitments remain unchanged, there will be little easing of domestic tensions before the autumn elections.
