This brief provides a critique of India's Defence Offset Guidelines (DOG), which came into effect on August 1, 2012. According to author, the guidelines suffer from a range of weaknesses including lack of clarity, unrealistic reasoning, and little incentive to the domestic manufacturing sector, which may prevent the DOG’s effectiveness in achieving the stated goals.
