This paper looks at the debate around the Visaginas Nuclear Power Plant project and the controversial decision of the Japanese company, Hitachi, to financially contribute to the implementation of this project. The parliament’s approval for the government’s plans to construct the plant and its deal with Hitachi do not however seal the deal. The final decision is not expected until 2015.
