This UN report investigates the treatment of Guantanamo Bay prisoners by US forces. The report states that the US treatment of the detainees violates the right of the prisoners to physical and mental health, and in some cases constitutes forms of torture. The report urges the US government to close down the military prison in Cuba and instead bring the captives to trial in the United States. The report also charges that the US government's justification for the prolonged detention represents a distortion of international law.
