Addressing sexual violence is inevitably complex, and despite increased international attention on the issue in recent years, examples of bad practice in this area are easier to identify than good ones. This paper recommends that the UK use its G8 presidency and accompanying diplomatic work to find new ways of encouraging the international community to fulfill its existing commitments on tackling sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). It also recommends that the UK should take a lead on promoting gender-sensitive security and justice sector reform as a key means of tackling SGBV.
