This paper analyzes the positions of the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party (Egypt), the Salafist al-Nour Party (Egypt), and the al-Nahda Party (Tunisia) on international human rights, both as a political norm and practice. In their programs, statements and literature, these parties have been keen to show that their beliefs are not incompatible with these rights. However, the evidence shows that they will indeed be endangered under these parties’ ambivalent conception of what constitutes a right.
