Those campaigning ahead of the Lithuanian 14 October 2012 parliamentary elections have focused primarily on the country’s economic problems and energy security. A victory by the opposition could result in the lifting of the relatively restrictive financial policies of the current government and impede the implementation of specific energy projects. What it would not do is significantly change Lithuanian foreign policy, nor necessarily improve Polish-Luthuanian relations, which depend on the improved status of the Polish minority in Lithuania.
