While there is evidence to suggest that private security companies can help foster economic growth and ease the burdens of public security providers, the still inadequate regulation of these companies tends to create problems. Some of the common trouble spots include rocky relations between the companies and local communities, challenging work conditions within the companies themselves, and a history of questionable human rights violations.
