The 2012 parliamentary elections in Ukraine have drawn much international attention because of the country’s European aspirations, declared by Ukrainian authorities as well as by a significant part of society. The elections are considered an important indicator of Ukraine’s democratic performance. This paper attempts to identify the background issues and possible outcomes of the elections.
