This publication discusses the crisis in Mali and a possible military intervention by the international community. The crisis in Mali is not limited to the north, but encompasses important dynamics that affect the whole country. A regional military intervention needs to be planned in terms of dealing with the grievances that allowed Islamist groups to take over the north so quickly rather than a simple military victory, argues the author.
