The reports in this issue focus on political and security developments in the summer of 2012, with economic issues also addressed. Each essay is accompanied by a chronology of significant events occurring between the states in question during the trimester. A regional overview section places bilateral relationships in a broader context of regional relations. This journal then illuminates patterns in Asian bilateral relations, including the United States, that may appear as isolated events and better defines the impact bilateral relationships have upon one another and on regional security.
