This article argues that North Korea now faces a serious question: how can it reap the benefits of information technology (IT) while also avoiding the social instability that often comes with it? Although the country is stable for now, IT has the potential both to transform the North Korean state and to integrate its anemic economy with those of its more robust Northeast Asian neighbors.
