This paper looks on the eve of the 2012 US presidential election at foreign policy scenarios under a possible second term for Barack Obama. It argues that during the second term, Obama could try to capitalize on the remaining credibility among the foreign audiences, and attempt to pursue an activist, risk-averse strategy internationally. In practice, however, he is likely to face serious obstacles to mobilize the international community to support his agenda.
